Alfred Norman “Skip” Neilsen, 63, of the Old Claremont Road in Charlestown, died Friday, June 13, 2008 at his home.

He was born in Springfield, VT on November 5, 1944 the son of Lawrence M. and Annette B. (Gosselin) Neilsen, Sr. and had resided in Charlestown for the past forty-five years.

Skip retired in 1995 from Bryant Grinder Corporation where he worked as a welder for over thirty years.

He was a former member of the Moose lodge of Claremont, the New England Antique Racer and the “Misfits” Cruisers.  In 2002, he was inducted into the Claremont Speedway’s Hall of Fame.

He was the widower of Cheryline Susan (White) Neilsen whom he married on June 29, 1963 and she died October 24, 2002.

The surviving family includes two daughters, Samantha Stewart and her husband James of Niantic, CT and Michelle Landry and her husband Richard of Tunbridge, VT; two grandchildren, Emily and Michael Landry both of Tunbridge, VT; two brothers, Lawrence M. Neilsen, Jr. of Charlestown and Richard A. Neilsen of Walpole and nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by a sister, Jean D. LeDrew.

Friends may call at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street in Charlestown on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday morning, June 21st at Eleven O’clock in the North Charlestown United Methodist Church with Rev. Margaret Long, officiating.

Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
