Audrey M. Billings, 82, of South Street in Claremont, died Thursday
afternoon, February 7, 2008 at the Haven Health Center of Claremont.

She was born in Marlborough, NH on September 20, 1925 the daughter of George
E. and Annie Elizabeth  (Webb) Mathews, Sr. and had resided in Claremont
most of her life.

Audrey was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1943.

She worked as a secretary for 3 ˝  years for Dr. Auten, was a crossing guard
for the Claremont Police Department and was a secretary for George Mathews &
Son Plumbing, Heating & Electrical Contractors which was a family business.

Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of her
life.  She was a great animal lover both domestic and wild.  She also
enjoyed knitting, embroidering, decoupage and reading.  She was the
matriarch and historian of the Family.

Audrey was the widow of Robert Earl Billings whom she married on October 10,
1943 and he died February 5, 2001.

The surviving family includes one son, Steven R. Billings of Claremont; one
daughter, Linda Pogue of Plattsburg, MO; seven grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte Woodman of Gilford and nieces and
nephews.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Leslee Charlotte Billings who died Feb
19, 2004 and one brother, George Ellsworth Mathews, Jr. of New Boston who
died Feb. 12, 2008.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, February 14th at Eleven
O’clock in the Stringer Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Winn Alley, Pastor of the
First Congregational Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home from ten to eleven o’clock prior to the
services.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in her
memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, New Hampshire Chapter, 27
