Benoit Lacasse, 85 of School Street in Claremont, died Tuesday morning, September 9, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in White River Junction, VT.

He was born in Black Lake, P.Q. Canada on November 27, 1922 the son of Leon and Anna (Roy) Lacasse and had resided in Claremont most of his life.  He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army.

Benoit retired in 1984 from Joy Manufacturing Company where he worked as a Lathe operator for 43 years.

He was a communicant of St Mary’s Church and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1201.

The surviving family includes his wife, Roseanna (Ferland) Lacasse of Claremont whom he married on Aug. 2, 1958 and they just celebrated their 50th; one son, David Lacasse of Claremont; one daughter, Carol Carr and her husband, Dr. Charles of Hanover; three grandsons, Matthew, Daniel and Christopher; one brother, Rene Lacasse of Claremont and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by ten brothers and sisters, Joseph Lacasse, William Lacasse, Helaire Lacasse, Adrienne Lacasse, Maurice Lacasse, Maryanne Gosslin, Germaine Potvin, Roseanna Garneau, Aurore Picard and Irene Arel.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 13th at One O’clock in St Mary’s Church with Rev. Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery.
