Dorothy Elizabeth White, 86, of Thrasher Road in Claremont, died Sunday evening, June 8, 2008 at Valley Regional Hospital.

She was born in Bethel, VT on January 25, 1922 the daughter of Volney and Edna Vivian (Laport) Fassett.  She lived in Barre, VT and Montpelier, VT and had resided in Claremont since 1945.  She graduated from Goddard College in Plainfield, VT.

She was employed at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. of Windsor, VT for 25 years retiring in 1970.

Dorothy was dedicated to her family, especially babysitting her grandchildren, loved bird watching, crossword puzzles and regular puzzles, reading and scrabble.

Dorothy was the widow of Raymond Fuller White whom she married on July 29, 1945 and he died January 13, 2005.

The surviving family includes three daughters, Janice Pfenning of Brandon, FL, Mary Ellen Kemp and her husband Eugene, Jr.  of Williamstown, MA and Kathy Rae Ford and her husband David, Sr. of Claremont; son-in-law, Alfred N. “Skip” Neilsen of Charlestown; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Valerie Wolfe of South Carolina and Winona Pickel of San Antonio, TX; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryline Susan Neilsen on October 24, 2002 and six brothers and one sister.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday morning, June 12th at Eleven O’clock in the funeral home with Pastor Eugene Kemp, Jr., officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery.
