Dorothy Louise Ford, 80, of Elm St. died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, June 13, 2008.

She was born in Newport, NH on June 1, 1928 the daughter of Reverdy Bernard and Josephine Ellen (Johnson) Johnson and had resided at 294 Elm St. for four years and previously at 292 Elm St. for forty-eight years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Connecticut River Baptist Church.

The surviving family includes three sons, Dennis Ford and his wife, Diane of Concord, NH, Reverdy Ford and his wife Rebecca,  David Ford and his wife, Kathy; one daughter, Rebecca  Morrie and her husband, David all of Claremont; two sisters Beverly Gallus of Brunswick, OH and Virginia Parker of Palm Springs, FL; one brother, Phillip Phelps of Independence, KS; sister-in-law, Elaine Woods of Newport, NH; seventeen grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; one uncle, Fred Johnson and nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert Francis Ford who died April 6, 2000, one daughter Susan Adams who died Oct. 1997, her father Reverdy Johnson in 1987, her mother, Josephine E. Phelps in Aug. of 1995  and step-father, Leemand Phelps in June of 1996.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, June 18th, at eleven o’clock in the morning with Pastor Phillip Phelps, officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery
