James A. Walker, 81, of Sanborn Road in Plainfield, NH, died Thursday evening, October 30, 2008 at his home.

He was born in Montclair, NJ on September 21, 1927 the son of M. Kinsley and Helen K. (Gahs) Walker and had resided in Plainfield for over 60 years.  He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army where he was a medic and also played football.

Mr. Walker was a self-employed dairy farmer and operated the Timber Top Farm in Plainfield for most of his adult life.  He loved the land, his dogs, football and was an avid reader.  He was a director of the Upper Valley Feed Supply, Inc. and was a part-owner of Upper Valley Builders Incorporated.  He was a former member of the Meriden Grange.

The surviving family includes two brothers, Kinsley H. “Lee” Walker and David O. Walker both of Plainfield and one sister, Anne Laurie Schelewa of Meriden and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There are no visiting hours.

Private funeral services will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont with interment in the Moulton-Thompson Cemetery in Meriden with Rev. Dewey Jones, Pastor of the Baptist Church of Meriden, officiating.
