John Martin Thiels, 38, of Canaan, was found Sunday, June 29, 2008, at a camp sight in Bridgewater, VT.

He was born in Colorado Springs, CO on September 12, 1969 the son of Jackie T. and Cecilia (Ebare) Thiels.  He had resided in Canaan for the past ten years and previously lived in Lebanon and Lamoille County, VT.

He attended school in Hyde Park, VT.

John worked as an optical technician for the past eighteen years at Bond Optics in Lebanon.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved life.

The surviving family includes one son, Jonathan Thiels of NH; his mother, Cecilia (Ebare) Thiels of Claremont; two sisters, Ginny Thiels of Burlington, VT and his twin sister, Charlotte Farmer of Essex, VT; his maternal grandmother, Naomi Ebare of S. Royalton, VT; his paternal grandmother, Leoda Thiels-Curry of Alexandria, LA; several aunts, uncles and cousins including a special uncle, Art Cilley of Canaan; three nephews and one niece.  He was pre-deceased by his father, Jackie T. Thiels in 1971.

There will be a time of fellowship and sharing on Sunday afternoon, July 6^th  from 1 to 3 PM at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont.

The family request that there be no flowers and donations may be made in his memory to, Cecilia Thiels, 18 West Pleasant Street, Claremont for Jonathan Thiels Trust Fund.
