Joseph Francis Grey, 75, of Morway Mobile Home Park in Charlestown, died Sunday evening, October 19, 2008 at the Sullivan County Health Care. 

He was born in Woodbury, NJ on September 9, 1933 the son of John and Mary (McConnell) Grey.  He had resided in Charlestown for the past four years and had previously lived in Reading, VT for 25 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Air Force for four years and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1956.  Belonged to the United States Air Force Security Service (USAFSS) as a Morse code intercept radio operator.

Mr. Grey retired in 2002 from Bryant Grinder Corp. where he worked as a machinist for 25 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #25 of Windsor, VT.

The surviving family includes his wife, Elizabeth Mary (Hayes) Grey of Charlestown whom he married on October 10, 1959; one daughter, Joan Grey of Claremont; three sons, Joseph J. Grey, of Claremont, William Grey of Perkinsville, VT and David Grey of Charlestown; four grand-children; two sisters, Theresa Leaf of Arcadia, ME and Charlette Grey of NJ.  He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Mary Grey and Rose Grey and two brothers, Tony Grey and John Grey.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 23rd at Eleven O’clock in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, VT.

The Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont is in charge of arrangements.
