Joy Louisa Morrie, 90, formerly of Elm Street in Claremont, died Sunday morning September 14, 2008 at the Haven Health Center of Claremont, NH.

She was born in Pittsburg, NH on Sept. 2, 1918 the daughter of Earl and Florence (Aldrich) Farnsworth and lived in East Barre, VT for 42 years and in Claremont for the past nine years.

Mrs. Morrie retired from the US Post Office in Websterville, VT where she was the Post Master for 24 years. 

She was a member of the Barre Senior Citizens Center.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, horseback riding, hunting and fishing.  She also cared for elders of her family.

She was the widow of Ogalva Victor Morrie whom she married on Dec. 26, 1955 and he died in 1978.

The surviving family includes one son, David M. Morrie and his wife, Rebecca of Claremont;  five grandchildren, Michael Morrie, Matthew Morrie, Paige Morrie, Ryan Brown and Sarah Brown, four great-grand-childen; one sister, Maxine Farnham of Washington, VT and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was pre-deceased by her step-mother, Lena Farnsworth.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning, September 20th  at Eleven O’clock in St Cecelia/St Francis Cabrini Church in East Barre, VT, with Rev. Father Paul Sackevich, officiating.

Interment will follow in St Sylvester Cemetery in Websterville, VT.
