Karl Joseph Collise, 16, of Hardy Avenue in Claremont, died Saturday evening, June 7, 2008 from drowning in the Sugar River.

He was born in Parma, OH on June 12, 1991 the son of David G. and Kellie J. (West) Collise, Jr. and had resided in Claremont for the past eleven years.

Karl was a junior at Stevens High School and was the Industrial Arts Student of the Year.

He volunteered for the past four years for the American Red Cross blood drives.

Karl enjoyed hunting and fishing and anything outdoors, especially anything on wheels.  He also helped other kids.

The surviving family includes besides his parents of Claremont, one brother, David G. “DJ” Collise, III of Claremont; his maternal grandparents, Ronald W. and Jean West of Newcastle, ME; his paternal grandfather, David G. Collise, Sr. of Northfield, OH; his paternal step grandfather, John J. Stofira of Norwalk, OH; his paternal great grandmother, Sylvia Osterman of Oakwood, OH and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was pre-deceased in 2006 by his paternal grandmother, Linda L. Stofira.

Friends may call a the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Thursday evening, his birthday, from 6 to 8 PM casual dress.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday morning, June 14th at Eleven O’clock in the First Congregational Church, casual dress, with Rev. Dr. Winn Alley, Pastor officiating.
