Lena Mary Fontaine, 94, a long time resident of Donald Street in Claremont, died March 14, 2008 at The Courville of Manchester in Manchester, NH.  She was a native and nearly life long resident of Claremont, NH, born on November 13, 1913 the daughter of Frank and Michaline (Szalucka) (Sczerba) Zerba.  She moved from Donald Street to the Earl Bourden Center in 1995 and in 2003 she moved to the Bedford/Manchester, NH area.  Lena was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1933.  She was employed as a seamstress for twelve years at Houghton Simonds of Claremont.  She was a communicant of St Joseph Church.  First and foremost she loved her family.  She loved nature and growing vegetables and she loved to sew and hand braided rugs.  She was the widow of Elzear E. Fontaine, a long time law enforcement officer and asphalt paving contractor in Claremont, who died June 25, 1981.  She was also pre-deceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Smith in 1982.

The surviving family includes two sons, Philip Fontaine and his wife, Joan of Bedford and Noel Fontaine of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; one daughter, Kathleen Whittaker and her husband James of Seattle, WA; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Visiting hours for Lena Mary Fontaine, will be held from 12:30 to 1:00 PM,

A Celebration of Life by the family will be held at 1:00 PM, with a Memorial Service at One-Thirty PM on May 6th in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, Pastor of St Joseph Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.

A reception will be held at the Funeral Home following the interment.
