Leola May Silver, 85, formerly of the Old Claremont Road in Charlestown, died April 28, 2008 at the Haven Health Center of Claremont.

She was born in Weathersfield, VT on April 23, 1923 the daughter of Ernest and Ruth (Parker) Coburn and had resided in Charlestown most of her life.

She was raised in Perkinsville, VT and lived in Springfield for a short time.

She had worked in the operations department of the Connecticut River Bank for nearly 25 years, at Keil Lock for 7 years and at Kendall Pharmacy for 5 years.

Leola was a former trustee of the Trust Funds  of the Town of Charlestown for several years and was a Past Noble Grand of Elmwood Rebekah Lodge.

She was the widow of her first husband, Ellsworth Matthews who died in October of 1950 and her second husband, Robert E. Silver who died in April of 1999.

The surviving family includes one son, Arthur Matthews of Newport; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Jeannette) Gadwah of West Topsham, VT and Mrs. Peter (Judith) Vigneault of Perkinsville, VT; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one brother, Wendall Coburn of Springfield, VT and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was pre-deceased by one brother, Ray Coburn and one sister, Helen Coburn.

Graveside committal services will be held Tuesday morning, May 6th at 10:30 AM in Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown with Rev. Malcolm Grobe, Pastor of the Charlestown Congregational Church, officiating.
