Lillian R. Feeney, 89, formerly of Summercrest in Newport and a longtime resident of Pleasant Street in Claremont, died May 1, 2008 a Sullivan County Health Care.  She was born in Sherbrooke, PQ Canada on September 18, 1918 the daughter of Alfred and Julia (Gonyea) Roberts and had resided in Claremont most of her life.

She was a graduate of St Mary’s High School in the Class of 1937 and was the first president of St Mary’s School PTO.

Lillian was a former member of Court Virgil H. Barber #892 Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was a communicant of St Joseph Parish.

She worked as a drive up teller at the Claremont Savings Bank for a short time.

She was the widow of James Donald Feeney whom she married on June 17, 1939 and he died February 5, 2000.

The surviving family includes one son, Michael Feeney of Newbury; two daughters, Nancy Marashio of Newbury and Sharon Feeney of Greenfield, MA and two grandsons.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Hector Roberts, Ernest Roberts and William Roberts and one sister, Cora Sanborn.

Graveside committal services will be held at the convenience of the family in St Mary’s Cemetery.
