Mae Eleanor Lambert, 90, formerly of 20 Barnes Street, died Friday December 26, 2008 at Elmwood Center of Claremont. She was born on October 29, 1918 in Claremont, the daughter of Arthur and Blanche (Lizotte) Cloutier and was a life long resident of Claremont. She attended St. Mary Grammar School, Green Mt. School and was a Stevens High School Graduate. She was the widow of Roger H. Lambert, whom she married on June 14, 1941. He died October 26, 1996. A communicant of St. Mary Church, she was a member for 59 years of Court Virgil H. Barber #892 Catholic Daughters of the Americas and St. Anne Society. In earlier years, she was a Junior CDA counselor, and member of Green Mt. Home EC Club, enjoying many varied crafts. Born into a large rural family, she learned many home maker skills which she prided herself and shared these skills with others. She was known for her wedding and specialty cakes. She was an accomplished knitter, seamstress, candle maker, braided rug maker and upholstered furniture for her home. Prior to marriage, she worked at the Purple Pitcher Tea Room. Later, she was a St. Mary High School cafeteria cook and a crossing guard at North Street School. She volunteered at St. Mary Elementary School, and made banners for the church. She is survived by her two sons, Gary A. of Claremont and Jim H. of Northfield, NH; two sisters, Mrs. George (Esther) Normandin of Claremont and Mrs. Francis (Lorraine) Young of Wells, ME and Venice, FL; one brother, Richard Cloutier of Crossville, TN; one brother-in-law, Herve Beaudoin; two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Robert (Olive) Cloutier and Mrs. (Irene) Cloutier, also cousins and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by six brothers, Arthur in 1929, Elmo in 1990, Norman in 1991, Robert in 1993, Marcel in 1997, and Harold “Cookie” in 2007, and by three sisters, Irene Wallace in 1980, Yetive (Betty) Nichlos in 1993, and Corrine Beaudoin in 2006. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home on Wednesday, 9 AM to 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St Mary Cemetery. Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Mary Parish, 32 Pearl St., Claremont, NH 03743. |
