Marian Louise Hanson, 83, of 67 Maple Avenue in Claremont, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, September 9, 2008. 

She was born June 17, 1925 in Bedford, MA, the daughter of Harold and Bertha (Read) King.  She was raised in Chelmsford, MA and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School and the Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing.  She was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corp. and a portion of her training was at Fort Devens, MA and Cushing General Hospital in Framingham, MA.  She enjoyed nursing and worked at her profession as an RN until her retirement in 1988. She worked at the Sullivan County Nursing Home and the Woodlawn Nursing Home.  She was an accomplished pianist and played in several different churches in her lifetime.

She and her husband moved to Newport NH in 1982 and lived there for 19 years.  In 2001, they moved to the Earl M. Bourdon Center in Claremont.  She enjoyed playing Cribbage, working on her computer and reading.  She and her husband were members of the First Baptist Church of Claremont.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Hanson of Claremont, a son, David Hanson of Charlestown, a son, James Hanson of Alligator, MS and a brother, Harold King of Hollis.   She is also survived by her daughters- in- law, Jeanne, David’s wife, Darlene, James’s wife and Mary, Bob, Jr’s wife.   She was also the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, four great granddaughters and five great grandsons.

She was predeceased by her oldest son, Robert, Jr. in 2001.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13th at twelve noon in the First Baptist Church with Rev. David Crosby, Pastor officiating.  Visiting hours will be at the church from eleven till twelve prior to the services.

Interment will be on Monday, Sept. 15th at one o’clock at the East Cemetery in Hollis, NH.
