Martha Ann Merrill, 85, of Morway's Mobile Home Park and formerly of the
Acworth Road in Charlestown, died Saturday morning, February 16, 2008 at the
Haven Health Center of Claremont.
She was born in Newark, NJ on August 9, 1922 the daughter of Roger and Verna
(Horne) Moynahan and resided in Charlestown most of her life. She graduated
as valedictorian of her class from the North Walpole School System. Mrs.
Merrill's home was always open for anyone in need.
She worked for several years at Keil Lock and Walpole Wire.
Mrs. Merrill was a member of the Charlestown Home Dem Club.
She was the widow of Hercy A. Merrill whom she married on August 16, 1940
and he died February 7, 1988.
The surviving family includes one son, Alan H. Merrill of Charlestown; three
daughters, Janice E. Bell and her husband, Raymond of Inglis, FL, Susan M.
Rondeau and her husband, Thomas of Claremont and Cindy L. Merrill Young and
her husband Pat of Perkinsville, VT; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five
great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; two sister-in-laws,
Alice Merrill and Vena Johnson both of Charlestown.
She was pre-deceased by one son, Roger Merrill; a daughter-in-law, Lynn
Merrill; one sister, Mary Merrill Macatee; and two brothers, Roger Moynahan
and Vincent Moynahan.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, February 19th at Three
O'clock in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with
Pastor Kenneth Laclair an associate of the first Baptist Church,
officiating.
Interment will be at a later date in the spring in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon from two to three
o'clock prior to the services.
