Martha Fisk, 69, of Perry Street in Charlestown, passed away Wednesday morning, September 24, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family after a long fight with leukemia.

She was born in Haleyville, Alabama on July 21, 1939 the daughter of Luther E. and Rachel (Whitehead) Gay.

Martha graduated from Haleyville High School and attended Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Miss.  She worked for Traders and Farmers Bank and Tidwell Industry before moving to Claremont, NH in 1973.  She worked at Claremont Savings Bank for several years and retired from VTel Telephone Company in 2003 after 22 years of service.

She was a member of Bow Baptist Church in Weathersfield, VT.

The surviving family includes her husband, Cedric Fisk of Charlestown whom she married on Dec. 6, 1975; her mother, Rachel Gay; sisters, Rebecca Tidwell and her late husband, Don, Susan Walsemann and her husband, Dr. Gary Walsemann; her father and mother in law, Cecil and Leona (Lundin) Fisk; brothers-in-law, Calvin Fisk and his wife, Elsa, Carlton Fisk and his wife Linda, Conrad Fisk and his wife Linda; sisters-in-law, June Stacey and her husband Robert, Janet Miller and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street in Charlestown on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, September 27th at 11:30 AM at the Weathersfield Bow Baptist Church with Rev. Walter McDaniel, Pastor officiating.

Interment will follow in Hope Hill Cemetery in N. Charlestown.
