Myrtle E. Merrill, 90, formerly of East Mountain Road in Claremont, died
Monday morning, March 10, 2008 at the Haven Health Center of Claremont.
She was born in Washington, NH on June 5, 1917 to Perley H. and Gertrude
(Hoyt) Crane of Washington, NH and her love for the place of her birth was a
life long passion. She had resided in Claremont since 1948. She was the
widow of Richard Everett Merrill whom she married on June 5, 1937 and he
died August 10, 1995.
The surviving family includes one son, Richard E. Merrill, Jr. and
significant other Charlotte of Bristol, VT; two daughters, Elizabeth G.
"Betty" Charland and her husband Thomas of Claremont and Lynette A. Bangs
and her husband Joseph of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren; twelve
great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris C. Oliver of Santa Fe, CA; two half
sisters, Mildred E. Whiles of Machias, ME and Jean F. Kenny of Los Altos, CA
and nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Glendon Crane and Clayton H. Crane;
one sister, Alice Crane; two half brothers, Donald Crane and Robert W. Crane
and one step-sister, Mable Houghton.
Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, at Ten O'clock at the
Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Winn Alley, Pastor of the First Congregational
Church, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Maplewood
Cemetery in Salisbury, NH.
