Philip Dwight Haynes, 77, of Morningside Lane in Charlestown, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Haven Health Center of Claremont following an accident on May 30th.

He was born in Surry, NH on July 12, 1930 the son of Joseph and Esther (Maynard) Haynes and had resided in Charlestown for 52 years.  He also wintered in Puerto Rico for 19 years.

Phil was a veteran having served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Claremont since 1952 where he served in the church for many years as a high school S.S. teacher and well-loved youth leader and also a member  of the Gideons International, distributing Bibles in the area.

Phil owned Morningside Farm in Charlestown from 1952 -2007, was a self employed dairy farmer from 1952-1975, also owned Morningside Service Station from 1972-1985, developed the farm into Morningside Flight Park a popular hanggliding and paragliding site from 1976-2007 and did Multi-level marketing from 1989-2003.

The surviving family includes his wife, Barbara C. (Bliss) Haynes of Charlestown whom he married on Feb. 10, 1951; three children, Daniel D. Haynes, currently a missionary in Mali, W. Africa, Sandra J. Graff of Claremont and Stephen D. Haynes of Charlestown; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Priscilla J. Erisman of Charlestown and Martha A. Thornhill of Montville, ME; two brothers, David Allen Haynes of Claremont and Paul W. Haynes of Swanzey also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held July 26, 2008 at Three O’clock in  the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Cook, Pastor and  Daniel D. Haynes officiating.  

There will be a graveside service in Pinecrest Cemetery in Charlestown at Four O’clock on Saturday, July 12th.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Calvary Baptist Church, 97 Maple Ave., Claremont, NH 03743, marked for the missionary ministry of Daniel Haynes.
