Rena Harriet (Cate) Long, 97 of Claremont, NH, passed away on June 5, 2008.  She was born on April 8, 1911 on her parents’ farm in East Montpelier, VT, the daughter of Henry W. and Azubah Anna (Slayton) Cate.  She worked as a telephone operator in Barre, VT from 1930 to 1937. She married William Ronald Long on September 4, 1935 in Whitehall, NY and she lived in Weathersfield, VT for over 60 years.

She was predeceased by her husband on November 12, 1973, as well as her brothers, Richard H. Cate of Norwich, CT in 1976, Robert H. Cate of Bedford, NH in 1993 and her sister, Ruth H. Thayer of Barre, VT in 1999.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda E. Rubera of Claremont, NH and her son, Douglas R. Long of Mount Holly, VT; grandsons, William S. Connor of Oxford, GA and Jonathan D. Connor of Auburn, GA; granddaughters, Shelly Stoddard of Chester, VT, Elizabeth Ash of Springfield, VT and Marlana Hooker of Weathersfield, VT; as well as six great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Rena Harriet (Cate) Long, 97 of Claremont, NH, who passed away on June 5, 2008, will be held Sunday, July 13^th at Two O’clock at the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Kingdom Hall on the River Rod in Claremont.

Interment will follow in Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney, VT.
