Richard Dana "Dick" Wilcox, Sr. 80, of Dove Road, N. Newport, NH, died
Wednesday evening, February 27, 2008 at the Sullivan County Health Care.

He was born in Farmersville, NY on Jan. 7, 1928 the son of Horatio and
Winifred (Schuyler) Wilcox and had resided in N. Newport since 1950.

He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army.

Dick retired from the Newport School District in 1986 where he worked as a
school bus driver and custodian for eighteen years and had previously worked
for Conroy & Smith delivering produce and for the railroad prior to going
into the service.

He was a member of the Brewster Gould-Lee Rollins American Legion Post #25
of Newport and past member of the Claremont Post #29.

The surviving family includes his wife, Marjorie (Gould) Wilcox of N.
Newport whom he married on July 1, 1950; one daughter, Judy Rice and her
husband, Neal of Charlestown;  one son, Richard Dana Wilcox, Jr. and his
wife, Wanda of Newport;  9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-granddaughter; four sisters, Myrtle Lovell of Culpepper, VA,
Jerry Rush of Harrisonburg, VA, Joyce Marks of Zionsville, PA and June
Wilcox of  NC; one brother, Glen Wilcox of Cleveland, TN; also several step-
brothers and step-sisters and nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Morris Wilcox and Duane Wilcox;  one
sister, Mildred Wilcox and one grandson, Lonny Wayne Hosmer.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Monday evening March 3rd from 6 to 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, at Eleven O'clock in the
Funeral Home with Rev. Donna Leslie Pastor of the Croydon Flat
Congregational Church, officiating.

Interment with full military honors will follow in the North Newport
Cemetery.

The family suggests that donations may be made in his memory to the Meals on
Wheels, Newport, NH 03773 or the VA Hospital in WRJ, VT or the American
Legion of Claremont or Newport, NH.
