Richard Howard Dunbar, 71, of South Street in Claremont, NH, died Saturday morning, September 13, 2008 at the Haven Health Center of Claremont.

He was born in Wells River, VT on September 28, 1936 the son of Howard and Marion (Bunker) Dunbar and had resided in Claremont for the past 26 years.  He worked at the Troy Woolen Mill in Troy, NH for ten years.  He worked at the Gorham Garage in Gorham, NH for several years as a mechanic where he worked on cars, trucks and heavy equipment. He retired due to disability in 1981.

He enjoyed watching wrestling, fishing and working on cars.

The surviving family includes his wife, Arlene (Snide) Dunbar of Claremont whom he married on April 12, 1986;  three sons, Howard Stevens of Wells River, VT, Fayete Stevens of Orleans, VT and Donald Dunbar of Claremont; two step-sons, Robert Cutting of Sunapee and Arnold Johnson of Putney, VT; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including, Robert Snow of Claremont and Amy Snow of Berlin. 

He was predeceased by one brother and five sisters.

As per his wishes, there will be no visiting or funeral service.
