Roberta Jane  Miller, 80, formerly of 40 West Pleasant Street in Claremont, died peacefully, July 1, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Plattsburgh, NY.

She was born in Claremont, NH on June 27, 1928 the daughter of Robert E. and Mabel (Whittemore) Hadley. 

She was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1946.

She was a Ward II Supervisor of the Check List in 1998, a former member of the N. Charlestown Grange and the State Grange, the AARP and the Claremont Senior Center.

She was the widow of James T. Miller, Jr. who died Oct. 1, 1984.

Surviving family includes two daughters, Ann E. Miller of Whitefield, NH and Kim Miller-Andrews and her husband Lee of Plattsburgh, NY;  three grandchildren, Nicholas and Rachael Gonzales, James T. Miller and Jaime Gonzales;  one great-granddaughter, Briana Garrant; one sister, Priscilla Patterson of Charlestown and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Ruth Hadley Scanlon and an infant sister, Viola Hadley.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon, July 12th at two o’clock in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien Pastor of St Mary’s Church, officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 – 2 PM prior to the services.

Interment will be at a later date in St Augustine’s Cemetery in Peru, NY.  

The family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to the Claremont Senior Center., 5 Acer Heights, Claremont, NH or the Stevens High School Alumni Association General Fund, 24 Opera House Square Box 29, Claremont or the Plattsburgh, NY or Claremont Hospice Associations.
