Roberta LaCasse, 91, formerly of Thrasher Road in Claremont, died Sunday, November 16, 2008 in the comfort of her niece’s home in Duxbury, VT after a short illness.  She was born in Waterbury, VT on July 9, 1917 the daughter of Robert and Mary Ann (Cavanaugh) O’Brien.  She resided in Claremont for 58 years and sold her home in 2006 and moved back to Vermont to reside with family there.

Roberta graduated from Castleton State College, U.V.M. and went on to receive a Masters Degree in Education from Keene State College in 1960.  She taught in Vermont for ten years, relocating to Claremont in 1948.   While in Claremont she taught at Bluff, North Street and West Terrace Schools until her retirement in 1978.

She was the widow of Maurice J. LaCasse whom she married on December 13, 1952 and he died September 30, 2003.  Her sister, Ellen Harvey and brother, Robert O’Brien predeceased her.

The surviving family includes her sister, Florence Murphy of Duxbury, VT as well as numerous nieces and nephews to whom she was close.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont, NH on Wednesday evening, November 19th from 6 to 8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, at Eleven O’clock in St Mary’s Church in Claremont with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.
