Roger Leo Fournier, 79, of Grand Street in Claremont, died Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

He was born in Manchester, NH on December 23, 1928 the son of Paul E. and Blanche (Isabelle) Fournier and had resided in Claremont for the past six years.  He had previously lived in Deland, FL for 14 years and in Northfield, NH for 33 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Army.

Mr. Fournier retired in 1985 after 33 years of road construction work.  He worked for Manchester Sand & Gravel, Weaver Bros. and retired from Audley in Hooksett.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of moose Lodge #1201 and the American Legion Post #29 both of Claremont and a life member and Past Vice Commander of the Tilton American Legion Post #49.

He was the widower of Marie Aime (Pelletier) Fournier whom he married on Feb. 17, 1953 and she died June 27, 2005.

The surviving family includes one daughter, Dianne Fournier of Claremont; three grandchildren, Marie Wesoja of Andover, Jolene Chappell of Sunapee and JoJo Paquin of Claremont; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pauline Gagnon of Goffstown, Florence St Jean of Manchester and Isabelle Conley of Pocono, PA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Rachel Breaulette and Yvette Poulette and five brothers, Raymond, Roland, Urgel, Alphee and Edmour.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday morning, November 29th at Eleven O’clock in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with the American Legion Post 29 of Claremont performing military honors and the Moose Lodge will conduct services.

Interment will be Monday, December 1, 2008 at Eleven O’clock in the Chapel at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
