Rose Dorothy Deurell, 89, formerly of the Charlestown Road and Hillside Terrace in Claremont, died Wednesday morning, December 10, 2008 at Elm Wood Center at Claremont.

She was a native and life long resident of Claremont, NH, born on December 24, 1918 the daughter of Ignatz and Mary (Zook) Usko.

Rose graduated from Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing.

She retired in 1974 from the Sullivan County Nursing Home where she worked for three years as a Registered Nurse and had previously worked for Dr. John Maxfield and at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church.

She was the widow of George Deurell, Jr. whom she married on January 10, 1940 and he died August 10, 1966.

The surviving family includes one son, Christopher Deurell of Claremont; one granddaughter, Dawn Deurell Bienvenue and husband, John of Merrimack; one sister, Lena U. Read of Claremont; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including Jo Ann U. Chase and her husband Harold of Claremont and Cynthia Rozela of E. Hartford, CT.

She was pre-deceased by one brother,  John Usko; three sisters, Ann        ie Tobin, Stacy Jones and Helen Usko and one cousin, Jennie Tinker.

Funeral Services will be held Friday afternoon, December 12th at Two O’clock in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with Rev. Canon Marthe F. Dyner, Pastor of the Union Episcopal Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt View Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday from Twelve Noon to Two PM prior to the services.
