Rudolph Hamilton “Duff” Swanson, Jr., 62, of Hidden Valley Road in Charlestown, NH, died Wednesday morning, November 12, 2008 at his home.  He was born in Newport, VT on March 19, 1946 the son of Rudolph H. and Norma (Fletcher) Swanson, Sr. and had resided in Charlestown for the past thirty years.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict having served in the US Air Force.  He retired in March of 2007 from Latva Machine Corp. where he worked as a financial manager for eight years and had previously worked at Joy Manufacturing Co. in Claremont, Cone Blanchard in Windsor, VT and at Macdermid Equipment in Springfield, VT.

He enjoyed music, computers, playing cards and bar-b-ques.

The surviving family includes his wife, Anne (Tarrio) Swanson of Charlestown whom he married on June 2, 1973; four children, Erica Swanson of Wilmington, NC, Christopher Swanson of Springfield, VT,

Catherine Swanson of North Conway and Geoffrey Swanson of Cambridge, VT; one brother, Carl Swanson of Houston, TX; also nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, November 16th at Two O’clock in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with Rev. Canon Marthe F. Dyner, Rector of St Luke’s Episcopal Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery, Charlestown.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from One to Two PM prior to the services.
