Stanley Frank Patch, 88, of Riverview Drive., Charlestown, NH, formerly of Springfield, VT., died Saturday evening, October 11, 2008 at the Springfield Hospital in Springfield, VT.

He was born in Springfield, VT on March 10, 1920 the son of Donald and Carrie (Gay) Patch.   He and his wife, Helen, owned and operated the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge in Springfield, VT and retired in 1986.  They had previously operated the Cedar Crest Motel in Rockingham, VT for twenty years.

Mr. Patch and his wife were known for many charitable donations to the towns of Charlestown and Springfield.

He was a 32 degree Mason, completing degrees in the Scottish and York Rite in Burlington, VT.   A Shriner of Mt Sinai Temple #3 Montpelier, VT; a permanent contributing member of Shriners Hospital For Crippled Children; Life member of King Solomon’s Temple #45 of Bellows Falls, VT;  member of Orient Lodge #62 in East Hartford, CT; Sovereign Grand Commander Council; Abenaqui Chapter No. 19 Bellows Falls, VT; Knights of Rose Croix, Springfield Council #18 Springfield, VT;  Brattleboro Shrine Club;  Lodge Council Chapter Valley of Brattleboro;  member of  Grand Elect Masons; King Solomon’s Lodge of Bellows Falls, VT;  Holy Cross Commandery #012 of Bellows Falls, VT;  Prince of Jerusalem Scottish Rite;  Consistory Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Brattleboro, VT;  Consistory Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Burlington and a life member of the B.P.O.Elks Lodge #1560.

The surviving family includes his wife of 62 years, Helen (Cudo) Patch of Charlestown;  one daughter, Donna Small of Charlestown;  one son, Stanley Patch, Jr. of Castleton, VT; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

There will be no services.
