Susan P. Dexter, 58, of Michael Avenue in Charlestown, died Sunday, March
16, 2008 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was born in Glendale, CA on October 6, 1949 the daughter of Edward and
Yvonne (Labossiere) Charland. She attended schools in Massachusetts. Susan
moved to New Hampshire in 1972 and lived in Unity, Claremont and Charlestown
for thirty-five years and in Grafton, VT for the past year.
She was the founder of the Charlestown paper "Our Town". She was on the
Charlestown Finance Committee, worked for the Police Department as a
Dispatcher and part-time officer and was a full time EMT.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her five grandsons. For
the past year she enjoyed living on the farm with her loving companion Joe.
He fulfilled her life with love and compassion for each other, their animals
and the importance of family.
The surviving family includes her son, Robert Kelcey of Charlestown; one
daughter, Dawn Kelcey of Springfield, VT; five grandsons, Tyler Leclair,
Caleb Kelcey, Colby Kelcey, Zachary Ledrew and Benjamin Ledrew. Her mother,
Yvonne Charland of Dayton, ME, her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Kelcey, her
ex-husband, William Dexter of Claremont and his daughters, Monica Rook and
Kimberly Gray, her loving companion, Joseph Plummer of Grafton, VT and
several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her father, Edward
Charland in 2002.
Funeral services will be held Thursday evening, March 20th at Six O'clock at
the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street in Charlestown with Rev.
Arthur Bennett, Rector of The Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd,
officiating.
Friends may call at the Chapel on Thursday afternoon from 4 to 6 PM prior to
the services.
The family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to the Humane
Society of ones choice.
