William Fred Willette, 89, of Springfarm Road in Claremont, NH, died Tuesday
morning, February 12, 2008 at his home. He was born in Fabian, CT on
September 9, 1918 the son of George and Helen (Leal) Willette. He lived in
Woodstock, CT for a short time and in Claremont since 1938. He was a
veteran of World War II having served in the US Air Force.
He worked for Joy Manufacturing Company in the foundry for thirty-three
years as a general foreman and retired January 1, 1981 and also worked in
construction with his son Bill.
Fred was a very active member of the Claremont Beagle Club and was a member
of the Rod & Gun Club, the Sullivan County Sportsman's Club, the Grange and
the VFW Post #808. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed feeding the
deer and turkeys at his home. He was also an incredible gardner, providing
his family and friends with fresh vegetables.
The surviving family includes his wife, Laurette (Breton) Willette of
Claremont whom he married on June 4, 1966; one son, William Fred Willette,
Jr. and Suzanne of Acworth; three step-sons, Edward Malhoit and Christine of
Claremont, Harry Ryan and Claire of Charlestown and Roger Ryan and Carolyn
of New London; three step-daughters, Sandra Malhoit of Claremont, Marilyn
Richards and Chip of Meredith and Dorothy Luce and Art of Claremont; many
grandchildren; two great-grand-children; one brother, Douglas Willette of
Fredericksburg, TX; four half brothers, Edward Young of Unity, Harry Young
of SC, Eugene Young of Grosvenor Dale, CT and Frank Young of Webster, MA;
also nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by one stepson, William Ryan; one sister, Dorothy Paris;
one brother, Clarence Willette and one half sister, Kaye Roberts.
Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont
on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning, February 15th
at Eleven O'clock in St Joseph Church, with Rev. Father Patrick Gilbert,
officiating.
Interment will follow in St Mary's Cemetery.
