Albert W. Johnson, 77, of Ponderosa in Charlestown, died Friday evening, November 6, 2009 at the Veteran Administration Medical Center in White River Junction, VT. He was born in Windsor, VT on August 25, 1932 the son of Joseph and Winifred (Coyle) Johnson. He had resided in Charlestown since 1980 and had previously lived in Rutland, VT. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Army. Albert retired in 1995 from Mal Tool & Engineering in N. Charlestown and previously in Rutland where he worked as a machinist for 23 years. He worked for the past 9 years at Whelen Engineering in Charlestown. He was a member of the American Legion Post #29 of Claremont and enjoyed golfing, the Red Sox and gardening. The surviving family includes four sons, Daniel W. Johnson and his wife, Pamela of Medford, OR, Kerry L. Johnson and his wife, Darlene of N. Charlestown, Timothy A. Johnson of Charlestown and Jeffrey A. Johnson of Swanton, VT; eight grandchildren, John and Billy Maddox, Eric, Evan, Elliot, Jacob, Caleb Johnson and Marisa Gamboa, also nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by one daughter, Jennifer Sue Johnson on Sept. 20, 1986 and three brothers, Richard Johnson, George Johnson and Wilbur “Bud” Johnson. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday morning, Nov. 11th at Eleven O’clock at the Funeral Home with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, officiating. Interment with full military honors provided by the Claremont American Legion Post #29 will be held in Mt View Cemetery in Claremont. The family suggests that donations may be made in his memory to the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Hospice Room, 215 N. Main Street, White River Junction, VT, 05009. |
