Alice M. Estabrook, 87, a 50-year resident of Claremont, NH, died Tuesday, morning, June 9, 2009 at Summercrest Assisted Living in Newport.  She was born Alice Minnie Hill on February 11, 1922 in Unity, NH and was a graduate of Concord High School.

She was married for 59 years to Dr. Philip Estabrook.  Together, they raised five children at their home on 212 Broad Street in Claremont.  Alice performed as executive secretary for Joy Manufacturing for 22 years and is remembered for her tremendous work ethic and devotion to her family.  Her first position was working for the League of NH Craftsmen, and she maintained a strong appreciation of handcrafts throughout her life. 

The family includes three sons Philip D. Estabrook III and his wife Margot of North Newport, NH; Thomas Estabrook and his wife Mary Ann of Bedford, NH; John Estabrook of Plymouth, MA; one daughter Jody Cutter and her husband Richard of Plymouth, MA.

One sister Hazel Nadeau of Penacook, NH 

Eight grandsons Philip Estabrook IV, Peter Light, Alex Grillo, Thomas Estabrook, Ryan Estabrook, Charles Estabrook, Nathan Estabrook and James Estabrook. six granddaughters Hilary Hammond, Emily Estabrook, Kate Estabrook, Lauren Grillo, Liza Grillo and Elana Estabrook, as well as six great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her daughter Deborah who passed in 1988 and her husband Philip who died in 2003.

Her legacy remains a profound sense of generosity, love, and support that is treasured by her family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Joseph Church on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00am with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar officiating. 

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, Friday evening from 5 to 7 PM.

Burial will be held at a later date in Mount View Cemetery.
