Anneke “Annie” Henrietta Dalmolen Alcorn, 65, of Osgood Avenue, Claremont died Wednesday September 23, 2009 at her home surrounded by her immediate family after a long bout with cancer. She was born on April 17, 1944 in Hilversum the Netherlands, the daughter of Henry F. and Anna (Munneke) Dalmolen and moved to the United States in 1952. Annie graduated From Amesbury High School, Amesbury, MA in 1962, where she was an all-star athlete. She received her LPN from Beverly Hospital Nursing School, where she was President of her class. Her career included work as an office nurse, teacher’s aide at Stevens High School and Director of the Sullivan County Hospice where she dedicated 23 years before stepping down in 2008 due to her illness. She had an incredible knack for making people feel better, right until the end. People found comfort and solace in talking with her from the young to the old. Perhaps it was more of a gift than an interest, but she was good at it and found enjoyment in doing it. She enjoyed antique collecting, yard sales, gardening, cooking, traveling, listening to music and staying “hip” with the help of her grandchildren. The family includes her loving husband Clyde Alcorn of Claremont whom she married August 15, 1964; three daughters, Karyn Hibbard and her husband, Aaron of Belchertown, MA; Charlene Story and husband, Steve of Henniker, NH and Kate Derosier and her husband, Jeff of Claremont, NH.; and she was Grammy Annie to eight grandchildren Heather, Hayley, Alex, Christopher, Sydney, Tucker, Molly and Addison. She also leaves one brother, John Dalmolen of Amesbury, MA; one sister, Josephine Taylor of Oakbluff, SC. She was predeceased by an infant grandson, Michael Aaron Hibbard and two brothers, Albert Dalmolen and Robert Dalmolen. Family and friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 6-8. Funeral services will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, on Monday, September 28th at 11am with Reverend David Crosby pastor of the First Baptist Church in Claremont officiating. Interment will be in the West Claremont Burying Grounds. A reception will follow at the Claremont Senior Center.
