Carmine L. Blish, 84, a former long time resident of Chestnut Street in Claremont, died Wednesday afternoon, September 23, 2009 at the Elmwood Health Care Center of Claremont. She was born in Maynard, MA on December 31, 1924 the daughter of Frank and Mina (Hathaway) Filiault and had resided in Claremont most of her life. Mrs. Blish worked at the Ideal Laundry for a short time. She was a member of the Claremont Women of the Moose. She enjoyed BINGO, babysitting, catering and making wedding cakes. The surviving family includes her husband, James S. Blish, Sr. of Claremont whom she married on June 28, 1945; one daughter, Cynthia Fischer and her companion, Steve of Claremont; two sons, James S. Blish, Jr. and his wife, Jean of Newport and Wayne A. Blish and his fiancé, Selina of Charlestown; five grandchildren, Melissa Anderson of Springfield, VT, Zachary Fischer of Lempster, Christopher Blish of Claremont, Alyson Blish and Zander Blish both of Charlestown; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Fischer, Griffin Fischer and Addy Creighton; one sister, Deloris Stathers of Broadbrook, CT and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by four brothers, Carl Filiault, Joseph Filiault, Frank Filiault and Andy Pertesis. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM. The Women of the Moose will conduct their service at 7 PM on Monday evening at the Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, Sept. 29th at Eleven O’clock at the Funeral Home with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Mt View Cemetery. |
