Charles Ayer “Chick” Currier, 81, of Cindy Avenue in Claremont, NH, died Tuesday afternoon, May 12, 2009, at Sullivan County Health Care.

Chick was a native and life long resident of Claremont, NH, born on May 26, 1927 the son of Clyde R. and Agnes (Ayer) Currier.  He was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1945 and a graduate of Burdett College.  He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy.

Chick was Institutional Representative for Boy Scouts of America Troop #38, was a member of the Ski Patrol at Sunapee, a charter member of the Claremont Kiwanis Club, a member of Father Cote Council Knights of Columbus and a communicant of St Mary’s Church.

He retired in 1989 from LaValley Building Supply where he worked as a salesman of homes for over 20 years and had previously worked at American Aluminum Company and Goodwin Industries traveling New England as a sales representative.

He and his wife co-owned The Woman’s Shop in Claremont from 1955 to 1960.

He is survived by his wife, Betty (Gundlach) Currier of Claremont whom he married on Jan. 30, 1954; five children, Jennifer C. Pomykato and her husband, John of Hampstead,  Scott A. Currier and his wife, Laura, of Paradise Valley, AZ, Ross A. Currier and his partner, Joanne Wittren, of  North Sandwich, Matthew B. Currier and his wife, Elizabeth, of Hollis, and Lynn C. Wenger and her husband, David of Sunapee; ten grandchildren and his sister-in-law, Jane (Haubrich) Currier of Wenham, MA.

He was pre-deceased by one sister, Aldyth (Currier) Cann and one brother, Arnold Currier.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Mary’s Church on Monday morning at Eleven O’clock with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor, officiating.

Internment will follow in Mt View Cemetery.
