Eva Mae Stone, 86, formally of Mica Mine Road in Unity, NH died Wednesday afternoon, April 1, 2009 at Woodlawn Care Center in Newport.

She was born in Cornish, NH Oct. 26 1922 the daughter of Joseph and Nellie (Nelson) Stone and had resided in Unity for over thirty years and previously lived on Maple Avenue in Claremont for twelve years.

Eva worked for many shoe shops in the area and for Good Year Rubber in Windsor, VT making soles for combat boots during WWII.

She was a member of the Ladies Aide Society and Mother’s and Daughter’s Club both in Plainfield, NH.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband Leslie R. Stone in Dec. 9, 2003

The family includes two sons, Harold W. Stone and his wife Mary of Charlestown and Thomas O. Stone of Newport; one daughter, Donna Weld

and her husband Tom of Claremont; six grandchildren;

six great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Laclair of Cornish.

She was pre-deceased by her parents; one sister, Eleanor Hopkins; three brothers, Guy Scruton, Theron “Tweet” Scruton and Ralph Scruton.

Funeral services will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH on Monday morning, April 6th at Eleven O’clock with Rev. Suellen Leugers, Pastor of the Plainfield Community Baptist Church, officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9 to 11AM prior to the service.

Interment will be at a later date in Plainfield Cemetery.
