Helen "Lennie” B. Haubrich,91, died March 8, 2009 in her home at Langdon Place, Dover, NH. She was the eldest daughter of Russell and Gladys Berry, born September 22, 1917 in Portsmouth, NH and raised in Newington and Alton along with siblings Bunte, Jackie, Jun and Bette. 

In 1938, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Keene Normal School and a master’s degree from University of Connecticut in 1964.

Helen married Leonard ‘Bud’ R. Haubrich Jr. in a double ring ceremony with her sister, Bunte, and Ralph ’Cap’ Dodge on June 28, 1942. 

Leonard Haubrich died October 17, 1999.

As a career, she taught elementary school, retiring from Hinsdale Elementary in 1986. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi and a member of, most recently, the United Church of Acworth, NH.

Lennie will be remembered as a dear wife and loving sister, mother and grandmother. She never tired of expanding her mind through reading and travel, lived her life with resolve and resourcefulness and was a thoughtful, caring and positive friend.

Helen Haubrich is survived by her three children Randel Haubrich, and his wife Bonnie, Mark Haubrich, and his partner Susan Harlow, and Kim Chapman, and her husband Richard. As well, she leaves former daughter- in-law Liana Haubrich, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three sisters, a brother, two sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service for Helen “Lennie” B. Haubrich, 91, who died March 8, 2009, will be held Saturday, May 16th at One O’clock in the Union Episcopal Church in West Claremont with The Rev’d Alice Roberts, officiating.

Interment will be in the West Claremont Burying Grounds.
