Herman Charles Bunnell, Sr. 82, of Fitch Manor on Myrtle Street in Claremont, died at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, May 4, 2009.

He was born in Colebrook, NH on October 12, 1926 the son of Newton B. and Marion (Murphy) Bunnell and had resided in Claremont most of his life.

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army.

Mr. Bunnell retired in 1988 from Joy Manufacturing Company where he worked in heat treating for over 40 years.

The surviving family includes his wife, Irene M. (Lessard) Bunnell of Claremont whom he married August 23, 1947;  four daughters, Judy Harford and her husband, Ross and Peggy Davis and her husband, Donald both of Claremont, Sandra Lindberg and her husband, Lorens of Cavendish, VT and Martha Zabielski and her husband, John of Charlestown;  three sons, Herman “Trigger” Bunnell, Jr. and his fiancé, Kathy and Dale Bunnell and his wife, Kathleen both of Claremont and Kenneth Bunnell and his wife, Lorie of Unity; 27 Grandchildren; 36 Great-grandchildren; one Great-Great-Grandchild; one sister, Roseann Gratagos of Claremont; three brothers, Donald Bunnell, Norman Bunnell and Paul Bunnell all of Claremont and several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by three brothers, Billy, Fred and George Bunnell and two sisters, Elsie Bailey and Katherine Ferguson.

Also two great grandchildren, Owen Carpenter and Bear Michael Davis.

A Memorial service will be held Friday, May 8th  at Eleven O’clock in the Stringer Funeral Home with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, officiating.

Visiting hours will be held from 10 to 11am prior to the service.

Interment will be at a later date.
