Joanne D. Goodrich,73, of 3 Pheasant Lane, Claremont, NH/ Winter at: 8504 Charter Club Circle #6, Ft. Myers, Florida. Died Saturday morning January 31, 2009 at Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Care Center in Windsor, VT. She was a native and life long resident of Claremont, NH born on April 24, 1935, the daughter of Harry G. and Nellie (Lynch) Doten. She was a very generous and giving soul, a loving wife and wonderful mother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1953 and Keene State College in 1957. She was an elementary school teacher in Claremont School District for 28 years, mostly at Maple Avenue. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, NH Retired Teachers Association, Sullivan County Retired Educators Association, and the Ladies Union Aid Society. For many years she and her husband spent six months each year in Ft. Myers. She and her husband were fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel extensively in the National Parks, the Caribbean and Europe. Joanne was known as a friendly and caring lady who loved hats, singing, the ocean, camping and nature. The most important part of Joanne’s life was being with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The surviving family includes her husband of 51 years, John A. Goodrich of Claremont; two daughters, Karen Maiola and her husband, Joel, formerly of Bow, NH and more recently of Sunapee, NH and Kathryn Hanson and her husband, Peter of Goshen, NH; four grandchildren, Amanda and Jeffrey Hanson and Lauren and Ryan Maiola; one great granddaughter, Chloe Hanson; one brother, Harry Doten of Tucson, AZ; two nephews, one niece and cousins. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church on Pleasant Street, Claremont, NH on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. with a reception following at the Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center Teal Room Restaurant on South Street, Claremont. A graveside committal service will be held Sunday, June 14, 2009 at One-Thirty PM, in West Claremont Burying Ground and a reception following again at the Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center Teal Room Restaurant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Ascutney Hospital Hospice, 289 County Rd., Windsor, VT 05089.
