Lawrence W. Dunn, 86, of 7 Heritage Drive in Claremont, died Monday evening, Feb. 9, 2009 at Cedar Hill Health Care Center in Windsor, VT.

He was born in Haverhill, NH on January 1, 1923 the son of Burleigh H. and Hildreth (Waldo) Dunn.

He was a graduate of Woodsville High School.

Mr. Dunn worked as machine operator at Pratt & Whitney (United Technology)  in East Hartford, CT, later for Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield, VT and Cone Blanchard in Windsor, VT.

The surviving family includes one brother, Charles Dunn of Newington, CT; several nieces and nephews including, Sharon (Dunn) Lihl of Hartford, VT; cousins, Judith Jackson Dearborn of Plymouth, NH  and Rodney Jackson of TX and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Francis (Shirley) Dunn of Keene.  Nieces & Nephews:  Philip K. Dunn, Sharon Dunn Lihl, Sandra Dunn Arnoldy, Leigh MacKeen, Linda MacKeen, Charles MacKeen and Steven Dunn.    

Mr. Dunn's favorite hobbies were reading, especially anything to do with History; he loved to take long walks in the countryside with his nieces and nephews.  He was also known for feeding and taking care of stray cats.

He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Dorothy Dunn and Shirley Dunn MacKeen; two brothers, Philip Dunn and Francis Dunn, also two nephews Mark & Thomas MacKeen. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, February 14th at Two-thirty in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with Rev. Dr. Winn Alley, officiating.

Interment will be in the Horse Meadow Cemetery in North Haverhill, NH in the spring.
