LeeVerne Albert Arris, 73, of Calavant Road in North Charlestown, died Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Veterans Administration Center in White River Junction, VT. He was born in Westbrook, ME on August 2, 1935 the son of Eugene and Rhoda (Plaisted) Arris and had resided in N. Charlestown for forty years. He graduated from high school and enlisted in the US Navy 1955 for 4 years, served in the SeaBees for 4 years and in the US Coast Guard for 24 years and served his country for over 30 years. He also worked in between enlistments for Fellows Gear Shaper, Windsor Minerals, Hemmingway Electric, Garrison Stove, Tambrands Inc. and was also a master electrician. The surviving family includes his wife, Wesleyanne (Merritt) Arris of N. Charlestown, whom he married on November 16, 1963; one son, Daniel W. Arris of N. Charlestown; three brothers, Robert E. Arris of Sumner, ME, David Way of Hope Mills, NC and Wayne Way of Jacksonville, FL; four sisters, Linda L. Arris of Auburn, ME, Donna Stevens of Sumner, ME, Doris Marie Johnson of Maine and Glenda Morgan of TN also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by one son, Paul Lee Arris who died Dec. 14, 1990; and two brothers, Severin Way and George A. Arris. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, January 10. 2009 at Eleven O’clock in the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Stephen Cook, officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Saturday, May 2nd at 2 pm in Hope Hill Cemetery in North Charlestown with full military services provided by the Claremont American Legion, Post #29.
