Levi Leo Blake Jr.,60, of Newport, NH died February 27, 2009 at Valley Regional Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Claremont on Aug. 18, 1948 the son of Levi L. and Emily C. (Sargeant) Blake Sr. Levi served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968.

 He owned and operated Levi’s Auto on John Stark Hwy in Newport.  Levi passed along a vast knowledge in auto machanics and earned the trust of many people over the years.  He was not one to shy away from a challenge. He had many dear friends and family and although the hand he was dealt was not exceptional, he always tried to keep his spirits up and his head high. He was an extremely remarkable and talented man with many interests and even more talent.

The surviving family includes his wife Eva (Daniels) Blake of 29 years of Newport; a daughter Emily Blake of Newport; two sons Levi Blake III of Manchester, NH and Joseph Blake of Charlestown, NH; a step daughter Candy Avery;

one brother Richard Blake and his wife Betty of Newport; two sisters Caroline Blake of Claremont and Elaine Kirkpatrick of Charlestown;

also many nieces and nephews.

He will be missed very much everyday but will always be remembered.

Friends and family may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont on Tuesday March 3, 2009 from 6 to 8PM.

Funeral services and burial will be held privately.
