Mary Ellen Bryer, 64, of Octagon Drive in Charlestown, NH, died at her home on Saturday afternoon, July 25, 2009, surrounded by her family. She was born in New Milford, CT on October 3, 1944 the daughter of Edgar A. and Gladys A. (Cook) Benjamin, Sr. She has lived in Charlestown for the past ten years and resided in New Milford, CT most of her life. Mrs. Bryer worked as a customer service representative for the First National Stores in Connecticut for 25 years and retired in 2003 from Ralph’s Market in Charlestown. She loved gardening and enjoyed traveling, especially several cruises. Mary was an active member of Sharon’s Hometown Fighters Relay for Life Team. The surviving family includes her husband, Blanchard M. Bryer of Charlestown whom she married on June 27, 1981; one daughter, Katie Ducey and her husband, Mike of Gaylordsville, CT; two sons, Alan Edmonds and his wife, Darlene of Gardner, KS and Duke Bryer and his wife, Roni of Timonum, MD; four grandchildren, Jennifer & Ashley Edmonds and Hayleigh & Dustin Wilson; one brother, Edgar Benjamin, Jr and his wife, Shirley of Charlestown; two sisters, Martha Trabold of Charlestown and Laurie McRoberts and her husband, John of Plainfield, NJ; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her parents and one sister, Lois Deloy. Friends may call at the Stringer’s Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street in Charlestown on Tuesday, July 28th from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Gaylordsville United Methodist Church in Gaylordsville. CT on Thursday, July 30th at Eleven O’clock. Interment will follow in Morningside Cemetery in Gaylordsville, CT. Friends may call at the Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Rd., in New Milford, CT on Wednesday, July 29th from 6 to 8 PM.
