Mazie Aileen Genereux, 96, formerly of Old High Bridge Road in Claremont, died February 25, 2009 at the Sullivan County Health Care Center.

She was born in Topsham, ME on April 19, 1912 the daughter of Asa R. and Josephine A. (Barber) Sanborn.

She attended Claremont Schools and graduated from Stevens High School the class of 1930.  She worked in the women’s apparel department for Montgomery Wards for thirteen years and also for Sam Heller Mens Clothing Store.  She was a past member of the United Methodist Church, the Woodman Chapter 26, Eastern Star, Claremont Women’s Republican Club and the American Cancer Society.

Mazie and Ray traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, George R. “Ray” Genereux, Jr. on October 27, 2007 and her sister Pauline Mayhew.

The surviving family includes one daughter, Cosette Genereux of Phoenix, AZ; a half sister, Elinor Moulton and half brother, Homer Fletcher both of Claremont; two grandsons Mark and Lance Perron; 

three great grandchildren, many nephews and one niece.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 5th at Eleven O’clock in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont NH.

Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
