Theresa Helen Marvin, 83, of 67 Maple Ave., Claremont, NH died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Valley Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. Theresa was born in Newport, NH on May 25, 1926 the daughter of Thomas J. and Yvonne (Henault) Lemay and resided in Claremont since 1960. She worked at Sullivan Machinery, several shoe shops and retired in 1988 from the Sullivan County Homemakers Service where she worked for nearly six years. Like many women of her generation, Theresa left school early. With great determination and high spirit, Theresa returned to school and received her high school diploma at the age of 64. She was a communicant of St Joseph Church and a member of the Ham Radio Club. She enjoyed her family pets, reading, crossword puzzles, traveling, playing cards and bowling. She felt blessed to have many good friends. As a foster mom, Theresa gave a home and her love to many children in this community. Theresa was the widow of Edward C. Marvin whom she married on February 15, 1947 and who died January 20, 1981. Her surviving family includes one son, Robert P. Marvin and his life partner Deborah J. Mozden of Unity; one daughter, Pamela A. Marvin and her life partner Shelly Page of Charlestown; one sister, Loretta Abaire of Bristol, CT; three brothers, Robert Lemay and Phillip Lemay both of Lebanon and Leonard Lemay of Canaan; also nieces, nephews and cousins particularly two special cousins Myrna Giroux and Mary Provost. She was pre-deceased by her parents and one brother, Richard Lemay; her very special aunt Roseanna Wark in 2008 and also three uncles. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont on Thursday evening, October 29th from 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning, October 30th at Eleven O’clock in St Joseph Church with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt View Cemetery. The family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to St. Joseph’s Renovation Fund, PO Box 824, Claremont NH 03743. |
