Walter Alan Bushway, age 95, died on December 2 at Presidential Oaks in Concord where he had been a resident for several years.  He was born on April 19, 1914 in Belmont, Massachusetts and grew up around Barnet, Vermont. 

Alan was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy and attended Northeastern University.  He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy on several Pacific island campaigns.  After the military, Alan worked for the State of Massachusetts and the Town of Brookline as a civil engineer, retiring in 1979.  He lived with his family in Brookline and Framingham, Massachusetts before retiring to Claremont.

 He was predeceased by his wife of over 60 years, Laura Bushway.

Alan is survived by a son, Paul Bushway, his wife Julia, and two grandchildren, Emily and Daniel, of Little Silver, New Jersey.

A dedicated family man, Alan enjoyed carpentry, watch repair, gardening, and golf.  He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Claremont as well as the American Legion.

Graveside committal services for Walter Alan Bushway, 95, who died on December 2, 2009 at Presidential Oaks in Concord will be held at the Barnet Center Cemetery in Barnet, Vermont Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 2PM with Pastor Scott Kearns of the First Baptist Church officiating.
