Wilhelmina Robertson Scott Crocker,78, passed away on January 22, 2009. She was born in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland on 24 May, 1930,the daughter of Murdoch H. Scott and Elizabeth Robertson Scott.Wilma left behind her daughter, Judy Jarvis, son-in-law Peter Jarvis, and grandson Joey of Ascutney with whom she lived for the past eight years; her other children, Scott and Prudence Crocker of Troy, Missouri, Kendall Jr. and Susan Crocker of Juneau, Alaska, Sheila and Mark Laplante of Woodstock, Vermont; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sisters Morag Mallaby of Windsor, Ontario; Margaret Campbell, of Kinross, Scotland; Kathy Maliszewski of Westport, Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews who live around the world. Wilma was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Kendall B. Crocker Sr. of Chester,Vt. in August, 2001; a brother James Scott of Scotland, sisters Ethel Cockburn of Cape Town, South Africa and Betty Kiley of Westport, Connecticut.Wilma grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland, during WWII . In her early twenties she lived in London, England and attended the London School of Art before coming to the United States in the early 1950's as a beautiful young woman. It was then that she met and married the "love of her life", Kendall Crocker, in Chester, VT. Shortly after they married and began their life together, they moved to Siesta Key, Florida and later returned to Chester where they raised their family and lived the remainder of their years happily together. Wilma loved to cook gourmet meals for her family; she was also an avid reader and one conversation with her made her quick mind evident. She had a huge fondness for animals and birds and supported various animal groups for many years. Together she and Kendall went on several sailing expeditions which was enhanced by their love of the sea. Each year they traveled to favorite places, Rock Gardens, Maine in the summer and in the winter back to the place where they started their life together, Siesta Key, Florida. They loved to play golf, cross country ski, and in younger years took many travels in the world and the U.S.Wilma was employed by Robert Haas at Vineyard Brands in Chester for many years where her knowledge of French was essential in the wine business. She loved the people she worked with for so many years and was extremely proud of her work and affiliation with the company. She retired in 1990 when the company relocated. Nineteen years after her retirement the company still sent her flowers and cards which she enjoyed and appreciated.A memorial service will be held at Brookside Cemetery in Chester, Vermont on Sunday, June 21st at 2 p.m. with Reverend Thomas Charleton. Refreshments will follow the service for family and friends at the American Legion. |
