Antonietta Josephina Christie, also known to her friends as Ann, 97, a former long time resident of North Charlestown, St. Petersburg, FL and Newport, NH, passed away Wednesday evening, June 16, 2010 at the Woodlawn Nursing Home in Newport.

She was born in Brenno Useria, Italy on October 30, 1912 the daughter of Umberto and Carmela Theresa (Fontana) Magni.

She came to the United States at the age of 2, living in Barre, VT where she graduated from Spaulding High School in 1929.

She married John Christie in 1937. They lived in the Boston area then moved to North Charlestown, NH where they raised their children.

She worked at Keil Lock Company in Charlestown, Joy Manufacturing Company in Claremont and Dr. George Grabe in Charlestown.

In 1975 they retired to St. Petersburg, FL for the next 27 years.

After John passed in 2000, Ann moved to Newport, NH to live with her son

David's family. For the past two years she had resided at Woodlawn Nursing

Home in Newport.

The surviving family includes one son, David A. Christie and his wife, Sharon (Holms) Christie of Newport; one daughter, Susan J. Smith of Newport, widow of Brian N. Smith and Stephen Richards; four grandchildren, Breanna D. Smith Davis and her husband, M. Austin Davis of Newport, Mathew R.

Christie of Newport, Andrea S. Christie Gendron and her husband M. Joel Gendron of Roslindale, MA and Nathaniel B. Smith of New York City; and three great-grandchildren, Fletcher Austin Davis, Taylor Ann Davis and Sam Philip Gendron.

Graveside services will be held in the Hope Cemetery in Barre, Vt at a later date.

The Stringer Funeral Home and Crematorium, 146 Broad Street in Claremont is in charge of arrangements.
