Charlotte May Short, 78, of Old Cheshire Turnpike Road, Charlestown, NH died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Bellows Falls, VT on January 13, 1932, the daughter of George E. and Marjorie E. (Smith) Pebbles and had resided in Charlestown most of her life. Charlotte was an accountant and bookkeeper for Cray Oil in North Walpole and Rick’s Electric and Keil Lock both in Charlestown. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, active in the senior center, loved to dance, enjoyed band concerts and most of all loved to spend time with her family and friends. Charlotte was a great seamstress making wedding gowns, prom dresses, clothing for girls in 4-H and most recently her great granddaughter’s flower dress. She will be remembered as a loyal and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. The family includes three daughters, Linda Holbrook and her husband Wendell of Langdon, NH, Kathy Bailey and her husband James of Loudon, NH and Donna Ward of Charlestown, NH; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Cusanelli of Newport,NH; one brother, George Pebbles Jr. and his wife, Bobbie of Charlestown, NH; Donald Short’s children whom she considered hers, Keith Short, Gail Kindberg and Jean Merritt; her former husband, Frank Rounds, also numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two husbands, Elwin Ward and Donald Short. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday afternoon, March 28th at 2PM in the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street, Charlestown, NH with Rev. Janice Howe of the Third Congregational Church in Alstead officiating. Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 2 PM prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown, NH. A reception will be held at the Senior Center, 223 Old Springfield Road in Charlestown, NH.
