Christie Lila Petrin, 89, formerly of Petrin Heights, died August 10, 2010 at the Elm Wood Health Care. She was born in Henniker, NH on March 20, 1921 the daughter of Oliver N. and Margaret E. (Gunn) Parker and had resided in Claremont for seventy-one years. She retired in 1978 from Putnam’s Florist which she and her husband owned and operated. She had previously worked for Houghton & Simons, Credit Bureau and Petrin’s Clover Farm. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Virgil #892 and a former member of the Quota Club. She was the widow of Leon Adelard Petrin whom she married on December 30, 1939 and he died on March 4, 2002. The surviving family includes; one daughter, Elaine C. Turner and her husband Edgar of Ipswich, MA; three sons, Ronald L. Petrin and his wife, Gloria of Reading, MA, Richard D. Petrin and his wife, Maryanne of Springfield and Thomas O. Petrin and his wife Jean of Claremont; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Rice and her husband Jack of Loudon, Marcy Landry and her husband Robert of Claremont; three brothers, Oliver “Bill” Parker of Goffstown, James Parker of Jamestown, CA, Ethan Parker of Temple, also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Parker and Mary Hicks; three brothers, Gregory Parker, Clifton Parker and Burton Parker. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Friday evening from 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning, August 14 at 11 AM in St. Mary Church with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
